Fanfare Entertainment, LLC Unveils Rifftime on Route 66, the Industry's First Mobile, Interactive Music Festival

Burlingame, CA. – April 21st, 2014 – In an innovative move guaranteed to impact the standard music industry touring model, Fanfare Entertainment, LLC and its Rifftime Music division, today unveiled the industry’s first mobile, interactive music tour – The Rifftime on Route 66 Linear Music Festival. The festival will kick off in Chicago, IL on July 25th, 2014 and finish in Los Angeles, CA on August 9th, 2014. Traveling over the 2,451-mile road that is Route 66, artists will perform along the route in the towns it passes through.

Rifftime on Route 66 is designed to allow artists to have absolute control over their musical destiny. The mobile festival will endow participating musicians with the tools and technologies (provided exclusively by Rifftime) to book their own concerts in traditional venues such as nightclubs, bars, and roadhouses as well as impromptu house parties and on-street performances anywhere along Route 66. The artists will be empowered to manage their own logistics while marketing their music through Rifftime’s applications and social media outlets.

The concept, imagined and implemented by acclaimed jazz guitarist Bruce Forman, leader of the western bebop band Cow Bop, and Rifftime on Route 66 Musical Director, arose out of numerous trips he experienced on this storied road. Starting in 2004 as the Route 66 Challenge, his band left Chicago with only $100 in their pocket and traveled successfully the entire way to the Santa Monica pier. “Route 66 represents the independent and undying spirit of our culture, with strong ties to our past. By embracing the time-honored tradition of “hitting the road,” and combining it with modern technology and social media – we hope to start an important new migration by creating the music community of the 21st century,” says Forman. “This works, I’ve done it four times!”

Each group or artist will set their own route, schedule and mode of transportation, as well as finding additional sponsors. All participating bands will share a social media site, allowing them to post from the road and participate in Rifftime’s “Virtual Tip Jar” along the way. In addition, Rifftime’s team of stringers will “live stream” and document events along the route throughout the entire two-week festival.
